Kinetic Blogs – Client News

Hello Everyone!

We’ve got some good news about a big upgrade to share with you. It’s going to require your cooperation, and a few minutes of your time, but it will all be worth it!

Summary of Key Points

  • We’re launching a significant overhaul of our backend admin systems. The new system will bring you up to the very latest version of WordPress, will offer the highest level of security, and will open the door to many new features and plugins. The look and feel of the backend interface will not change drastically however!
  • Over the next few weeks, customers will be contacted individually to make a routine change to their DNS records either with their registrar or web host (we know this “techno-talk” is not familiar to most of you – don’t worry, we will guide you the whole way!). This will take just a few minutes of your time and you will only have to perform this update once. Instructions on this process are clearly outlined here. The sooner you help us make this change, the sooner you will have access to all your new benefits!
  • This new system was designed with all the latest security best practices in mind.
  • The new system will provide additional exposure for your blog posts via a new aggregation platform we’ve built at KineticBlogs. You will find your news and blogs highlighted here. You’ll receive more input on this feature when the site is finished early next year.
  • Over all the new system will allow us to provide greater user autonomy, quicker technology updates, and better “do-it-yourself” support materials via video!

Detailed Version

We’re About to Launch a New Initiative.
In a few weeks we’ll be launching an initiative to upgrade all client sites to the latest versions of WordPress. As you may or may not know, WordPress software is constantly being upgraded for better security, new features, and generally improved user interfaces. Plugins also have to be updated in order to remain up to date and we have a lot of them installed on your blog. Often times these upgrades are technologically significant behind the scenes. We’ve been working over four months to coordinate this effort and in the meantime have seen about four version updates. The new systems will be more convenient, powerful and secure yet the look and feel will remain the same. This is a big upgrade all around.

This new system also lays the groundwork for a variety of enhancements you’ve been asking for. We’ll be working on these in 2010!

What You Have to Do.
Over the next several weeks we’ll be contacting clients individually by email and/or phone to assist them with initiating DNS changes. This is a very simple process that will only take a few minutes of your time. Detailed instructions will tell you what to expect based on the type of URL you are using for your blog. These will also be outlined in the individual email you are sent, IMPORTANT – do not request changes to your provider until you receive an email notice from us! Changing the record too soon will disconnect your blogs!

Why is The New Way Better?
It’s simple really – the latest security, more client autonomy, quicker technology updates, lots of added new features and best of all – more search engine exposure for your content!

Other Benefits of the New System

  • New client dashboards will give you easy access to all our news and important updates
  • User gravatars (your profile pics!) are now available
  • Empowered users can have widget accessibility
  • Add your own new blog authors
  • New plugins coming in 2010
  • Get more exposure for your content via the Kinetic Blogs network
  • Faster interfaces with new technology caching systems
  • Easier access to more and more support videos, tutorials and FAQs

We have a lot of great stuff coming together in 2010, but we can’t begin development and roll out until this conversion project is complete!

Questions?
You’ll find an additional Q and A page about the upgrade here. We’re also happy to answer any questions you may have about the transition. Just send us an email and we’ll get right back to you.

Thank You!
Thanks again for being a Kinetic Knowledge customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to a prosperous 2010. Beyond the small hassle of changing your blog’s DNS settings, you will be very pleased with the new system features! Please stay tuned for an individual email and/or phone call in the next few weeks with further instructions on how to complete this process.

Looking forward to 2010 and beyond,
The Crew at Kinetic Knowledge
