About Holmdel NJ
Holmdel is a township in Monmouth County, NJ. As of the 2018 census, its population was approximately 16,662 people. Holmdel was formed as a township in 1857 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The origin of its name is not clear, with some people saying it is after the Holmes family, while others say it is from the Dutch language words holm and del, which mean “pleasant valley”. Holmdel is bordered by the Monmouth County municipalities of Aberdeen Township, Colts Neck, Hazlet Township, Marlboro Township, and Middletown Township.
